Lithopreparation

The lithopreparation workshop comprises:

• Hayat Lamrous in the Sorbonne Université campus

• Severin Morel in the Geology Building

• Vincent Rommevaux in the Geology Building

The lithopreparators prepared thin sections of rocks. They permit teams to analyse the composition of sedimentary rocks for throwing light on the depositional environment and the structure of fossils which facilitates identification and yields data relevant to understanding their growth. 

The preparation consists of gently grinding a rock sample or a fossil which has previously been cut and stuck to a glass slide.
