Natural Treasures of Thailand

The National Science Museum Thailand (NSM) was established to inspire the public to enjoy lifelong learning with the wonders of science, and promote research, exhibitions, and education programs for the citizens. NSM comprises four museums, Science Museum, Natural History Museum, Information Technology Museum, and Rama 9 Museum, each display a unique scientific exhibitions. 

Thailand Natural History Museum (THNHM) exhibits the life and biodiversity of Thailand and serves as the country’s center of taxidermy and reference collection on Thailand and Southeast Asia. Currently, there are over 300,000 specimens. Some of these are important collections such as Schomburgk's deer antlers collection, Brandt's freshwater mollusk specimens, Crustacean specimens from the NAGA Expedition in 1959-1961, ants and birds’ collection that are the largest collection in Thailand. Most of these are irreplaceable and are priceless historical specimens. 

Paleontology collection and Rock & Mineral collection were formally established in 2021. In the past, most specimens lacked information and were received from various donators who donated to the exhibition. Today, most of the deposited specimens are fossil invertebrates, especially bivalves and brachiopods from the research projects of NSM researchers.
