The core of my research project regards the evolution of early winged insect faunas, covering a period ranging from ca. 320 to 220 million years ago. In the course of co-mentoring research projects on topics such as the impact of flight biomechanics on wing morphology, ancient biogeography, and conservation biology, I gained interest in various insects groups which occurred during more recent time periods, including the Recent. Finally, my systematic expertise is solicited for contributing selections of fossil item suitable for the time calibration of the phylogenetic tree of insects.
